The Canadian Digital Media Network (CDMN) has announced the winners of the inaugural CDMN Moonshot Awards. The four winning Canadian digital media companies were honoured at CDMN’s Canada 3.0 conference, taking place today and tomorrow at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The Awards, presented in four categories, were developed to recognize Canadian companies that create jobs and wealth for Canada through innovation in digital media. TRTech and the Canadian Digital Media Network (CDMN) announced late yesterday that they will co-host the 6^th annual Canada 3.0 conference, which will be held for the first time in Western Canada at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre on May 26^th-28^th, 2014. Canada 3.0 has been an annual event since 2009.  Started by CDMN, it is now Canada’s largest annual digital media conference.  TRTech, a hub on the CDMN, and CDMN are long-time partners working to assist early stage, midsize and large digital media and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and mobile companies to commercialize their products and services, for national and international markets. Privacy and Access 20/20: A New Vision for Information Rights celebrates 20 years of freedom of information and privacy laws in the province of British Columbia and Canada. The conference will be looking back on our journey over the past two decades, but also looking forward to future reform. The agenda offers thought-provoking content from privacy, access and technology experts from academia, government, civil society and industry, both within Canada and internationally. The 3rd annual Canadian Cinema Editors Awards by Deluxe is thrilled to announce film expert Richard Crouse as this year’s host. The awards will be held at the Capitol Event Theatre in Toronto on June 6th 2013. The C.C.E. Awards is the largest event of its kind in Canada, focusing on the significance of post-production in cinema. The C.C.E., after only 5 years in existence, now boasts 250 members across Canada and growing. Fem­i­nists in Games, funded by a Cana­dian SSHRC Grant is an endeavor cre­ated with the pur­pose of assem­bling an inter­na­tional research asso­ci­a­tion of dig­i­tal media researchers from a full range of salient dis­ci­plines to begin build­ing ‘con­nec­tive tis­sue’ between and among them, so as to bet­ter under­stand the ori­gins and con­se­quences of this gen­dered dig­i­tal divide, and inter­vene in its reproduction. In the group’s second annual workshop, which will be held at the Centre For Digital Media this May 31st and June 1st, attendees will have two full days of panels, presentations and discussions on issues which impact women in technology and development. The Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Foundation of BC received a record number of entries for this year’s Leo Awards – 852 nominations, which reflects a 10% increase over the 2012 entries. triOS College has announced the launch of its new weekend video game camps, aimed at getting students excited and informed about what it takes to design and develop a video game.  These two-days camps run out of the triOS College Toronto and Kitchener campuses on select weekends from May 25 to August 24, 2013, with potentially more dates to be added. Video game enthusiasts will be able to choose from two different camps: “Learning to make Games with Gamemaker” for ages 11-14 and “Game Development with Unity 3D” for ages 15-17.  Interested participants can get details and register online.
