Ubisoft And Amblyotech Create The First Therapeutic Video Game Based On Method For Amblyopia Treatment

ubisoft canadaUbisoft Montreal and Atlanta-based Amblyotech Inc. announced their collaboration on the development of Dig Rush, the first video game based on a patented method exclusively used for the treatment of Amblyopia, also known as “lazy eye.” Using inventions initially patented by Drs. Robert Hess, Benjamin Thompson, Behzad Mansouri, Jeremy Cooperstock, Long To and Jeff Blum at McGill University, and subsequently licensed to Amblyotech, Ubisoft is applying gameplay principles to create an entertaining method that can improve patients’ engagement and experience during Amblyopia therapy. New Support For BC Film And Interactive Digital Media

Province of BCBritish Columbia is expanding the Digital Animation or Visual Effects tax credit to post-production activities, and extending the Interactive Digital Media tax credit to 2018, Minister of Finance Michael de Jong announced today with the introduction of Balanced Budget 2015. As promised, the Digital Animation or Visual Effects (DAVE) tax credit will apply to labour expenditures on eligible post-production activities for productions where principal photography begins on or after March 1, 2015. Majority Of Canadians Back Continued Support Of Canada’s Video Game Industry

ESACA majority of Canadians support continued public investment in Canada’s video game industry according to new research published by the Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC). In the new Essential Facts 2014 PDF report produced by the NPD Group for ESAC, 71% of Canadians say that governments have a role to play in choosing which industries will drive the economy of the future. What’s more, 55% of Canadians believe that the video game industry has an overall positive impact on the Canadian economy, and 62% also believe that it is an innovative sector which is helping to shape the Canadian economy of the future. Envisioning the opportunity that lies ahead, a strong majority (67%) also believe that the video game industry provides good opportunities for young people currently planning their careers.
