Softchoice announced today that it has been named by Citrix® as the 2012 Canada “Partner of the Year”. The award was presented during a ceremony held at the Citrix Synergy 2013 conference in Anaheim, California. Subconscious Password, the latest film by Oscar®-winning director Chris Landreth was produced by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) with the participation of Animation Arts Centre of Seneca College and Copperheart Entertainment. It recently had its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France and won the prestigious Annecy Cristal for best short film. Landreth joined forces once again with producer Marcy Page of the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), producer Mark Smith of Copperheart Entertainment, and the Seneca College Animation Arts Centre, who collaborated with him to make Ryan (2004) and The Spine (2009). The Canada Media Fund (CMF) would like to congratulates all winners of the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence, which were presented last night at a gala held at CBC’s Glenn-Gould Studio in Toronto. The Awards of Excellence recognize the creative talents of those working in children’s & youth television and digital content across Canada – the same talent that has contributed to making Canada a world-leader in children’s & youth content creation. Appolicious, named “the most useful of the app search engines,” by the New York Times, along with its educational ranking website, appoLearning, have named two applications by Le Groupe Média TFO: Mini TFO and La Cible, as Top-5 ‘best in class.’ These recognitions place TFO, a multiplatform digital content company, among world leaders in education, where it stands out as the only Canadian producer in any of the French-language categories. The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) announced today the winners of its 13th annual BDC E-Spirit Business Plan Competition. Gold, Silver, and Bronze were awarded to the “Kanata of Youth” team from Winnipeg, MB, “Frisbis” team from Coldstream, BC, and the “Onimiki” team from Maniwaki, QC, at a ceremony held at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. A total of 34 teams of Aboriginal students from across Canada participated in the competition. The three winning teams received cash prizes in the amount of $1,500 for Gold, $750 for Silver and $500 for Bronze. After five successful years of helping nearly 50 high schools across Canada transform their classrooms into modern learning centres, Future Shop‘s Future Generation Tech Lab program has announced the expansion of its grant opportunities to elementary schools. These grants will award up to $100,000 to public schools with grades ranging from kindergarten up to and including grade eight and secondary 2 in Quebec.
