Spin Master And Canadian Youth Business Foundation Celebrate Innovation Fund Recipient Achievements

Canadian Youth Business Foundationspin masterSpin Master Ltd. and The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) honoured Canada’s leading young entrepreneurs last night as recipients of the Spin Master Innovation Fund to celebrate innovation, entrepreneurship and the guidance and support they received on their path to business success. For the third consecutive year, CYBF and innovative children’s toy and entertainment company Spin Master Ltd. teamed up for the Spin Master Innovation Fund, which provides young entrepreneurs with $50,000 in start-up financing, a hand-matched mentor from CYBF’s industry-leading mentorship program and a trip to Toronto to attend a two-day Innovation Workshop, with exclusive access to industry experts and senior Spin Master executives. Last year’s Fund culminated with last night’s networking celebration, held at Toronto’s The Spoke Club, honouring their tremendous achievements as innovative young entrepreneurs. Milk Carton 2.0: Digital Innovations Transform The Search For Missing Children In Canada

Missing Children Society of CanadaIn 2012, The Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC) introduced The World’s Most Valuable Social Network – the first online search party that allows Canadians to “donate” their Facebook or Twitter newsfeed as a vehicle for raising awareness when a child goes missing. The World’s Most Valuable Social Network has assisted in the safe return of six missing children since its launch, and the tool is expanding to include Pinterest and Foursquare in the search for missing children. Up to 50,000 children are reported missing in Canada every year. Today, leading up to International Missing Children’s Day (May 25th), MCSC is expanding The Most Valuable Project with the launch of two new digital tools: Most Valuable Check-In and Most Valuable Pinboard. ITAC Ingenious Awards Program Seeks Excellence In The Use Of Information And Communications Technology

itacThe Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) will celebrate the achievements of Canadian organizations that have demonstrated excellence and innovation in their use of information and communications technology (ICT) with the 2013 edition of its Ingenious Awards Program, which opened its call for nominations today. The program celebrates enterprises demonstrating measurable evidence of productivity improvement, efficiency gains, revenue growth, overall business transformation or other organizational outcomes through the use of technology. Organizations may nominate themselves or be nominated by others. The nominations process runs from May 15 to July 15, 2013. 2nd Annual Feminists in Games Workshop – Vancouver

feminists in gamesFem­i­nists in Games, funded by a Cana­dian SSHRC Grant is an endeavor cre­ated with the pur­pose of assem­bling an inter­na­tional research asso­ci­a­tion of dig­i­tal media researchers from a full range of salient dis­ci­plines to begin build­ing ‘con­nec­tive tis­sue’ between and among them, so as to bet­ter under­stand the ori­gins and con­se­quences of this gen­dered dig­i­tal divide, and inter­vene in its reproduction. In the group’s second annual workshop, which will be held at the Centre For Digital Media this May 31st and June 1st, attendees will have two full days of panels, presentations and discussions on issues which impact women in technology and development.
