Creative BC Slate Development Fund Recipients Announced

BC Film And MediaCreative BC has announced the recipients of the 2014/15 Slate Development Fund, a provincially funded program, administered by Creative BC, that provides BC-based film or television entertainment companies with an envelope of money to support the development of two or more eligible film, television or web series projects. The fund is intended to leverage investment from the private sector, develop a presence in the international marketplace and encourage the use of digital platforms for marketing, distribution and audience engagement. Canada Media Fund Supports 31 Canadian Digital Media Productions

Canada Media FundThe Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today a contribution of more than $8.0M in development and marketing support to innovative digital media projects as part of the second round of its 2014-2015 Experimental Stream funding. In December 2014, the CMF announced a contribution of more than $11.0M to 24 projects that received production support. Record-Breaking Year For Canada At 2015 Sundance Film Festival

Telefilm CanadaTen Canadian feature films will be screened at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, a record for Canada at Sundance. This outstanding selection will also include five shorts and three video installations.  With 10 feature films out of a programmed 123 features, Canada will present the third-largest line-up at Sundance—accounting for 8% of the overall selection—after the United States and the United Kingdom. Twenty-four Canadian Companies Receive Funding For Interactive Digital Media Projects

Canada Media FundThe Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced yesterday that 24 interactive digital media projects received a total of $11.8M in funding as part of the second round of production support from the Experimental Stream for 2014-2015.  The Experimental Stream encourages the creation of innovative, interactive digital media content and software applications. The 24 companies are located in various regions of the country; one in Alberta, two in British Columbia, one in New Brunswick, one in Newfoundland and Labrador, one in Nova Scotia, eight in Ontario, and ten in Québec. Emily Carr University Of Art + Design Granted Funding To Study The Art Of Data

Emily Carr UniversityEmily Carr University of Art + Design has received funding to study data aesthetics, which looks at the visual and cultural effects of how society manages and uses data. Emily Carr University’s Studio for Extensive Aesthetics was awarded almost $57,000 from this year’s BC Knowledge Development Fund. The money will go toward purchasing equipment for a dedicated research facility and the project supports the work of the Canada Research Chair in art and design technology. Belgium And Canada Announce Interactive Digital Media Incentive

Canada Media FundThe Canada Media Fund and Wallimage (Wallonia, Belgium) announced today an agreement to establish an incentive to encourage the codevelopment and coproduction of eligible interactive digital media projects between transatlantic producers. The Incentive is only available to co-productions between Canada and Belgium, but does not exclude third-party co-producing partners from other territories, even if such partner is the majority co-producer of a project that receives financing from the Incentive. Telefilm CanadaOn November 20th, 2014, Telefilm Canada opened the doors of its Production Program, for fiscal year 2015/2016, to French-market projects with budgets over $2.5M. Opening dates for applications of projects with budgets under $2.5M will be announced later. The Production Program of the Canada Feature Film Fund is available to Canadian production companies looking to finance their feature film projects in the production and/or post-production stages.
