Telefilm Canada is pleased to be funding multiple award-winning writer-director Xavier Dolan’s French-language feature film Juste la fin du monde (It’s Only The End of the World), through the Canada Feature Film Fund. This majority Canadian coproduction with France will star Marion Cotillard (Rust and Bone, La Vie en Rose), Léa Seydoux (Blue is the Warmest Color), Vincent Cassel (Black Swan), Nathalie Baye (Laurence Anyways) and Gaspard Ulliel (Saint Laurent). The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and NZ On Air (New Zealand) have announced a contribution of $1.2M (CAD) to three digital media coproductions. Of the total, the CMF will contribute 618,000 (CAD) and NZ On Air will contribute 582,000 (CAD) towards the projects. Three Canadian production companies will collaborate with New Zealand counterparts on three bold new transmedia projects supported through a fund established late last year by the Canada Media Fund and NZ On Air. Telefilm Canada is pleased to be funding three French-language feature films through the Canada Feature Film Fund (CFFF) for a total of more than $4 million. The films to be funded are Boris sans Béatrice, by Denis Côté, Mission Yéti, an animated movie by Pierre Greco and Nancy Florence Savard, and Votez Bougon—which will feature the well-known characters from the TV series Les Bougons—by Jean-François Pouliot. Telefilm Canada has revealed details regarding the course it intends to follow over the next few years, as set out in its strategic plan for 2015 to 2018. This morning in Ottawa, the Chair of Telefilm’s Board, Michel Roy, unveiled Telefilm’s strategic plan during a speech he delivered at Prime Time in Ottawa, an event organized by the Canadian Media Production Association. The plan, titled Inspired by Talent. Viewed Everywhere. (PDF), updates Telefilm’s commitment to support the industry so it can connect with target viewers on all screens, in Canada and elsewhere. The plan also defines how Telefilm aims to help the industry take on the challenges of the digital age at a time when fundamental changes are transforming the way audiovisual content is produced, distributed and consumed.
