Spin Master Ltd. and The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) honoured Canada’s leading young entrepreneurs last night as recipients of the Spin Master Innovation Fund to celebrate innovation, entrepreneurship and the guidance and support they received on their path to business success. For the third consecutive year, CYBF and innovative children’s toy and entertainment company Spin Master Ltd. teamed up for the Spin Master Innovation Fund, which provides young entrepreneurs with $50,000 in start-up financing, a hand-matched mentor from CYBF’s industry-leading mentorship program and a trip to Toronto to attend a two-day Innovation Workshop, with exclusive access to industry experts and senior Spin Master executives. Sage North America today released findings of the Sage SMB Hiring Outlook Survey, which examined the hiring trends of Canadian small and midsized businesses in 2013 and their perception of how measures introduced in the recent federal budget will impact their business. The survey found that of businesses surveyed, 19 per cent have hired or will hire in 2013. Of those businesses hiring, 77 per cent reported that a stronger demand for their company’s services or products is the driving force for their need to hire, followed by improved economic outlook (23 per cent) and the availability of a better pool of desirable candidates (11 per cent). Vancouver-based bill pay technology provider TIO Networks Corp. has announced its partnership with the State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services and payment processor Paymentus to assist residents in paying State bills anywhere in the country. TIO will provide self-service kiosks and clerk-assisted software at key retail locations in the State, as well as on TIO’s existing network of approximately 57,000 locations throughout the U.S. for customers to make child support payments. Sci-fi real-time strategy games developer Blackbird Interactive has released the first gameplay trailer for their upcoming online strategy game HARDWARE: Shipbreakers. Following the release of a series of assets introducing the game’s visual style, this brand new trailer will show players how in-game graphics have been fully realized based upon the iconic, original concept art.
