Announced earlier this week (yes, Friday is my catch-up on the news day) was the Canadian International Television Festival (CITF), which will open on November 16, 2013 with Bell Media, the Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) as key supporters. The Directors Guild of Canada congratulates the 2013 DGC Awards nominees, announced earlier this week in Toronto.  Selected from close to 200 submissions, the nominees in 19 categories represent a cross section of the industry’s outstanding talent working in the screen-based industry. The Awards will be presented at the annual Gala on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the prestigious Royal York Hotel. Toronto-based DeveloperMedia‘s software dev online community CodeProject has announced that Phil Lee is the grand prize winner of its recent Windows Azure Developer Challenge. Over $16,000 in prizes was awarded to 21 individuals throughout the 10-week Windows Azure Developer Challenge.  The contest pitted developers from across the globe against each other in five stages of competitions that incorporated tasks like building a website, using SQL, spinning virtual machines, and building responsive mobile access for their Azure apps.
