The Princeton Review has announced their “Top Schools to Study Video Game Design for 2012,” ranking the Game Design Program at the Art Institute of Vancouver as number five on the top 10 of the list for undergraduate schools. Junior Achievement of Canada has announced a new national award opportunity for Canadian youth. The TELUS Junior Technology Award recognizes students’ knowledge and understanding of technology and rewards the best applications developed by Junior Achievement achievers. Cyber-bullying is a phrase that has crept into our vocabulary over the last decade. According to Statistics Canada, about 1 in 10 adults living in a household with children reported a child victim of cyber-bullying. According to the most recent statistics, the most common forms of cyber-bullying against children are threatening or aggressive e-mails or instant messages. UrtheCast is pleased to announce that it has taken another giant leap towards launching the world’s first HD video platform of Earth from space, by entering into a contract with MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. As a preeminent provider of electronic solutions, MDA will supply information solutions in support of UrtheCast’s video of Earth from the International Space Station (ISS). Information solutions to be included in this agreement include space data handling hardware (data compression units), which will be integrated into UrtheCast’s two high-definition video cameras. As many of you already know, the Oscar® for Achievement in Visual Effects went to the film Hugo, which featured the work of Seneca graduates and professors.
