TELUS announced today it has introduced a new grants program to help fund technology projects and equipment upgrades in Nova Scotia schools. As part of TELUS’ ongoing commitment to give where we live, TELUS’ Phones for Good Campaign will give $25* from each TELUS smartphone purchased in Nova Scotia until August 7, 2013 to a newly created TELUS Technology for Teachers Fund. ICTC has recognized Toon Boom Studio and its curriculum as one of the best vehicles to teach 21st century business and technology skills to Canadian students. After reviewing more than 150 applications from schools seeking upgrades to their technology, Future Shop is pleased to announce grant recipients for this year’s Future Generation Tech Lab program. The 2013 program is gifting nearly $250,000 in total grants to the 12 deserving schools across Canada for classes and programs focused on students in Grade 9-12. The economic impact of Canadian Film Centre and its alumni in Ontario is considerable according to a recent study conducted by Nordicity on the economic impacts of CFC’s graduates in the province. CFC, in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport (MTCS), engaged Nordicity to measure the economic impact of CFC graduates since 2005-06 – the first year of MTCS support. Study of the Economic Impacts of the Canadian Film Centre represents the first time an economic analysis of CFC graduates has been assessed, and provides a baseline for future studies. Hosted annually by 3P Learning, the World Education Games allows students from around the world to compete with each other in an on-line competition. Last year, 6 million students from over 200 countries and territories participated in the free competition. 3P Learning’s online resources – Mathletics, Spellodrome, and IntoScience – are the engines for the educational challenge that allows students to compete based on their age and skill level.
