The Audiovisual Coproduction Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Government of the Republic of India was signed on February 24, 2014, in New Delhi, India, during the State Visit of His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. The High Commissioner in India, Steward Beck, and India’s Secretary of Information and Broadcasting, Bimal Julka, signed this agreement in the presence of the Governor General of Canada, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, and the Minister of State (Sports) for Canada, Bal Gosal. Following thousands of submissions, and nearly 200,000 votes, Ontario’s Cindy Tang, age 17 has been named the winner of the first ever Doodle 4 Google Canada competition for her illustration of an underwater sea telescope. The Government of Canada has is providing $90,000 through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund for the 32nd edition of the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA), which will take place from March 20 to 30. Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover made the announcement today. These funds will allow FIFA to present the world’s best media arts productions and art films. The Media Arts section will present a number of experimental art films. In addition to the screening of films and videos, there will be conferences, roundtables, and the production of a catalogue.
