2014 Rockies Now Open For Submissions

Banff World Media FestivalCelebrating the best of the best of the world’s entertainment content, the Rockies is an internationally acclaimed program competition hosted by the Banff World Media Festival that attracts over one thousand entries from more than 40 countries annually. Each year at the Rockie Awards Gala, the Banff World Media Festival honours the immeasurable contribution of some of the biggest names on screen and behind the camera in the industry. The 2014 Banff World Media Festival will be held at the Fairmont Springs Hotel & Convention Centre in Banff June 8 through 11th 2014. Final nominees will be announced in May, 2014. The Long Dark Releases Prototype Gameplay Video Footage

hinterlandSupport for first-person post-disaster survival sim The Long Dark on Kickstarter has been overwhelming. Yesterday, the game was named Project of the Day on Kickstarter, and the number of backers swelled past 3,500. The final push is on in this, the final week of the fundraising campaign, and those backers have pushed Hinterland Games to the 60% mark of its financing target with 8 days to go. Comic App Hopes To Change How Comics Are Read On The iPad

the comic machineFounded in 2010 in Toronto by Jim Woo and John McLachlan who have careers in the ad industry, The Comic Machine comics are unique because they are created and optimized for digital viewing on the iPad without the constraints of adapting an existing print edition. The app, available now on iTunes, uses xml code to control the display of dialogue bubbles and cropped images that float on layers above the page. With each tap the page builds and animates automatically and then rests to allow the user to read before loading the next set of actions.
