The winners from this year’s IndieCade Festival have been announced. Congratulations to all of the winners and nominees who were among the chosen few for 2011, but especially to our Canadian developers who were recognized with awards:

Best in Show went to FEZ by Polytron Corp. and the Best Visuals award went to Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP – Superbrothers, Capybara Games, Jim Guthrie.

Big Blue Bubble Inc. has announced that Masters of Mystery Online, the online version of their mystery-based hidden-object game series is released on Facebook. Congratulations to BC indie developer Justin Scott, whose 2D PC side-scrolling game Icarus has been recognized as one of the top indie games on the market by American review site Game Tunnel. The Canada Media Fund has sent out a reminder that October 14, 2011 is the first closing date for the 2011-2012 English Production Incentive. As the guidelines (PDF) for the English Production Incentive state:

Applications to this program will be accepted until October 14, 2011, or until funds for the province or territory’s allocation are depleted, whichever comes first. If any portion of a province/territory’s allocation has not been committed by October 14. For example, if the CMF has not received complete, eligible application(s) with regard to the province or territory’s allocation by this date, the uncommitted portion will be made available to other projects eligible for the English Production Incentive in this fiscal year. That said, in no case will the CMF’s contribution to a project from the English Production Incentive exceed 10% of a Television Component’s Eligible Costs or $1 million, whichever is less.

The 6th Rubik World Championship is considered to be the largest meeting of the Grandmasters of the cube. During the 3 days the speedcubers are competing for more than 24,000 euros total in 19 official events. The most anticipated event is the 3x3x3 and many are anticipating a new world record.
