Do Not Interrupt Your Wii U Updates

Nintendo CanadaNintendo Canada wants to be sure that everyone who has purchased the new Wii U makes it through the update process when the unit is first connected to the internet. The update itself is quite large and can take over an hour to complete, depending on internet speeds. This update is critical for your Wii U as it enables numerous features on the system including Miiverse, Wii U Chat, the eShop, and the ability to download video-on-demand applications. Powering off the console during the update may damage your system, so plan ahead before beginning to ensure that the process goes smoothly.
