Desire2Learn U.K. Ltd., a member of the Desire2Learn family of companies, has announced that England’s University of Surrey will be implementing Desire2Learn® Learning Suite across several faculties and departments within the institution. The six year agreement will see implementation of the Desire2Learn platforms begin in October 2011 with the system due to go-live in August 2012 for the 2012/2013 academic year. There will be a hands-on, classroom based training session for businesses or organizations wanting to learn about and how to effectively use Social Media to tell their story and help grow their business being held in North Langley on October 26th.

By the end of the day, you’ll be fully set up on Google Places, have your own Facebook Business page, Twitter account, YouTube Channel, LinkedIn profile and learn how to manage it. Over 60 local businesses are now seeing their business grow through Social Media.

The seminar will be taught by Jonathan Christian of WeMakeStuffHappen.com, and costs $397.00 per person plus HST. The Harper Government has announced support for a documentary and educational web site, along with several localized legacy projects and events, to commemorate the 200^thanniversary of the War of 1812. This War helped establish our path toward becoming an independent and free country, united under the Crown with a respect for linguistic and ethnic diversity. The MindShare Learning Report eMagazine and supporting sponsors have officially launched the 4^th Annual MindShare Learning Report™ 21st Century Classroom Video Challenge. The contest challenges Canadian K-12 teachers (from publicly funded schools) to create and upload a 3-5 minute video showcasing their best practices teaching with technology to engage students and enhance learning outcomes.  Submissions will be accepted until midnight EST on Friday, December 16, 2011.

The official announcement of the 2011/12 three “Grand Prize Winners” will be on February 1, 2012. Each winner will receive a classroom technology prize package valued at over $15,000 for their school.
