Vancouver Film School’s 2012 Game Design Expo organizers would like to remind you that the deadline for their Call For Speakers (PDF) for Industry Day on January 21st is this Sunday, October 16th. They are looking for experienced game industry professionals who want to share their expertise and passion with the greater community. The Game Design Expo Industry Speaker Day will take place at the Vancouver International Film Centre, which is located at 1181 Seymour Street.

One of history’s greatest inventors and artists is featured in a new exhibition at the Ontario Science Centre. Leonardo da Vinci’s Workshop: The Exhibition, presented by Barilla Canada Inc., features unique models of Leonardo’s inventions, incredible technology that allows visitors to interact with his notebooks (codices) and digital versions of iconic pieces such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Attention Canadian developers: US-based Zoo Entertainment, Inc. subsidiary indiePub has announced its 2012 Independent Propeller Awards video game development competition to be presented during the 2012 South by Southwest (SXSW) ScreenBurn Arcade in Austin, Texas.

indiePub will award $50,000 in total cash prizes including $25,000 to a Grand Prize winner and $5,000 to the winner of each individual category: Best Art, Best Audio, Best Design, Technical Excellence and Mobile Game. The winning games will also be demonstrated March 9 through 11, 2012, in indiePub’s SXSW Interactive ScreenBurn Arcade booth located in the Austin Convention Center.
