French company INSIDE Secure and Toronto’s SecureKey Technologies Inc. have announced they are working together to make mobile and online payments and other authentication transactions more convenient and secure. Going beyond using an NFC-enabled smartphone to make payments at local merchants, the combined INSIDE Secure and SecureKey solution enables a smartphone, tablet, laptop or other device to act as a secure terminal to read chip-based contactless cards for point-of-sale and other authentication applications. A new “Global Study on Mobility Risks” reveals that corporate mobile devices and the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) phenomenon are rapidly circumventing enterprise security and policies in Canada. Seventy-one percent of more than 400 respondents in Canada agree that the use of mobile devices in the workplace is important to achieving business objectives. But 72 percent also believe that these devices put their organizations at risk—and only half the organizations surveyed have the necessary security controls to address the risk. Mood Media Corporation has signed an agreement to acquire US-based multi-sensory branding service provider DMX Holdings, Inc. for US$86.1 million in cash including net debt repaid on closing, subject to certain adjustments for working capital. Poynt Corporation, Intertainment Media Inc. and Ortsbo Inc., a subsidiary of Intertainment Media Inc.,  announced yesterday that they have finalized a joint venture agreement. The JV Agreement provides for the integration of Intertainment’s real-time experiential language platform, Ortsbo, into the Poynt platform. The parties also undertook to explore the mutual exchange of advertising inventory and investigate additional opportunities for monetization of both the Poynt Platform and Intertainment’s other platforms.
