comScore, Inc. presents the 2014 Canada Digital Future in Focus, the company’s annual report on how the prevailing trends in web usage, online video, digital advertising, mobile, social media and e-commerce are defining the current Canadian marketplace and what these trends mean for the year ahead. Key insights from the 2014 Canada Digital Future in Focus report include:
- Canada continues to be a leader in online engagement, with users spending 35 hours per month online on their desktop computers.
- Online video is of growing importance to the digital ecosystem as online engagement remains high while smartphone and tablet TV/video viewing is growing rapidly.
- The digital ad market is healthy and growing in Canada, with more than 600 billion display ad impressions in 2013. Ad viewability remains a key issue in the market with more than half of ads across measured campaigns not being delivered in-view.
- Smartphone adoption soared to 75 percent among Canadian mobile users, with Android currently leading in platform market share at 44 percent.
