In support of the upcoming theatrical release of Guillermo del Toro’s new sci-fi action adventure “Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Pacific Rim,” eight North American coastal cities along the Pacific Rim are joining in to host monster-sized, family-friendly beach clean-up events on Thursday, July 11. Warner Bros., along with local media partners, RealD, various eco-friendly organizations and local parks and recreation departments, is encouraging people to join the clean-up efforts. They will award the first 100 participants at each local clean-up event two tickets to see the film in RealD 3D on opening weekend, as well as a special “Pacific Rim” t-shirt made of recycled materials, courtesy of RealD, and other prizes. On the heels of yet another sold out success in PyCon 2013, the conference organizers are happy to announce the new website and Call for Proposals for PyCon 2014. The new site is now live and accepting talk, tutorial, and poster proposals for the April 9-17 2014 conference taking place in Montréal. The first time north of the border brings a change to the call: lightning talk proposals are now being accepted in advance. PyCon’s first trip into Canada, not to be confused with PyCon Canada, ventures into Quebec for a great week at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, in the Old Montréal area. Unlike years past, the conference center isn’t tied to a specific hotel, so the organizers have currently worked out group rates with the Hyatt Regency and Westin hotels in Montréal. GREE has announced that Knights & Dragons, a mobile free-to-play iOS game developed in collaboration with IUGO Mobile Entertainment Inc. and published by GREE, has surpassed $1M in monthly revenue. The team aims to double that revenue number over the next couple of months with long term goals reaching as high as $5M in monthly revenue by the end of the year. The Emily Carr University of Art + Design Campus Redevelopment Project reached a critical milestone today with the announcement of the three proponents shortlisted following the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to design, build, finance and maintain the new state-of-the-art campus at Great Northern Way. Independent game developer Nine Dots Studio is thrilled to release a preview build of their game, GoD factory Wingmen, the 4vs4 space combat MOBA, soon to be available on PC, Mac and Linux platforms.  The competitive game allows players build their ships part by part and fight massive online battles. GoD Factory is currently on Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight seeking support from the community to finish the ambitious project. The developers are proud to release a public download of a working version game, in its current state, for the next 30 days.  The game also works with Oculus Rift, players simply press 7 on the num pad to activate Oculus mode. Nine Dots Studio has been releasing weekly updates for the campaign, including 4 sets of mystery ships, revealing a Linux version of the game, and an impressive video showcasing the game on the Oculus Rift.
