Synchronica Demolishes Language Barriers with Ortsbo

Synchronica plc, a UK-based innovator in mobile messaging solutions with a research and development centre here inortsbo Canada, has announced new functionality within its flagship Unity product to provide on-the-fly translation between 53 languages. Powered by Ortsbo, users of Unity simply initiate a chat and then choose their preferred Ortsbo-supported language. Messages which are sent and received as part of the chat are then instantly and seamlessly translated without requiring any further user intervention.

The service is currently available to Unity’s Android OS users, and will be extended to other device platforms in the future. It supports a wide-range of commercial Instant Messaging services such as Yahoo! and Facebook Chat. The service can also be used by Unity’s operator own-branded Instant Messaging community.

The integration is made possible by coupling Unity’s intelligent integration points with Ortsbo’s robust Application Programming Interface (API), and was integrated in less than two weeks by Synchronica’s and Ortsbo’s skilled development teams. Outside of enabling real-time translations of messages transiting through Unity, Ortsbo’s sophisticated and patent-pending software was also used recently to provide closed-captioning in 53 instantly translated languages for the 2012 Orange British Academy Film Awards.

“From America to Zambia, Synchronica’s flagship Unity product is used by more than 100 of the world’s leading mobile operators and OEMs to power their own-branded push email, instant messaging, and social networking  services,” says Angus Dent, Synchronica’s CEO. “With the new Ortsbo-powered translation feature which we’re unveiling today, we break down cultural and linguistic barriers, and Unity takes yet another step forward in becoming the true social hub of mobile messaging.”

“Ortsbo complements Unity perfectly,” continues David Lucatch, CEO of Intertainment Media and Ortsbo. “Unity is already a leading messaging platform used by millions from diverse communities around the world, and with Ortsbo powering instant and seamless translation, many new social connections are about to be made. Mobile World Congress has attracted an estimated 60,000 visitors from all corners of the globe and we’re excited about showing them how a combined Unity and Ortsbo can add even greater value to their service offerings.”

The integration of Ortsbo and Unity represents the first step of a collaboration between Synchronica and Ortsbo. Synchronica and Ortsbo will further develop each other’s products, share research and development efforts, enlarge each other’s business development activities and drive revenue and profitability from new projects.
