Fixmo And AirPatrol Bring Situational Awareness And Location-Based Policies to Mobile Devices
Mobile risk management (MRM) company Fixmo and intelligent enterprise mobility solutions company AirPatrol, a US-based company with an R & D facility in Burnaby, have announced a technology partnership that will enable enterprises and government agencies to actively protect their mobile devices and maintain corporate compliance through location-based policy controls and context-aware data protection capabilities.
The partnership enables seamless integration between the AirPatrol ZoneDefense™ solution, which provides location-based and context-aware policy controls, with the Fixmo Sentinel and Fixmo SafeZone MRM solutions.
Fixmo Sentinel helps organizations protect their mobile devices by ensuring they start, and remain, in a known trusted state. In addition to mobile device management (MDM), it provides continuous device integrity monitoring, adaptive policy controls and auditable compliance reporting. Fixmo SafeZone, the secure container solution for iOS and Android™, is a defense-grade Secure Container and Secure Mobile Messaging solution that keeps business apps and data separated from personal apps using an encrypted and access-controlled on-device contained workspace.
AirPatrol ZoneDefense uses geo-location technology that is able to monitor and detect the location of a mobile device, both indoors or outdoors, within a couple meters. ZoneDefense tracks devices as they move in and out of administrator-determined zones and enables the organization Security experts and IT department to define different usage policies based on the device’s location.
Through integration with Fixmo Sentinel and Fixmo SafeZone, granular usage policies can be applied to devices based on current location, such as restricting usage of the camera or microphone as it enters a sensitive area or restricting access to corporate data and apps when a device leaves the confines of an approved safe zone.
“This technology partnership is of particular significance to the government, financial and healthcare markets, where strict policies govern how confidential data needs to be protected under different conditions,” said Rick Segal, CEO of Fixmo. “By combining ZoneDefense and Fixmo’s mobile risk management solutions, organizations can disable the camera while a financial trader is on the trading floor or when a government employee enters a classified area, or restrict access to patient information and restricted applications as soon as a device leaves a hospital premise.”
“The ability to manage and secure mobile devices, both cellular and Wi-Fi, based on situational context—including physical location and network affiliation—is an unparalleled management asset created by the unification of Fixmo and AirPatrol technologies,” said Bradley Rotter, Chairman and CEO of AirPatrol. “Government and enterprise employees can now work securely while on the move without the risk of exposing sensitive data when travelling across networks or through classified and restricted areas.”
Fixmo and AirPatrol will be demonstrating their joint solution at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 27th until March 2nd at booth #2A97 (Hall 2).
Both Fixmo and AirPatrol were honored as “Pilot Award winners” at the 2012 INSA American Security Challenge yesterday in Arlington, Virginia.
