MES Hybrid Document Systems Launches Microfilm Scanning Technology for Libraries and Businesses

mes hybrid document servicesOntario microfilm scanning company MES Hybrid Document Systems, Inc. has announced ViewScan®, a new microfilm scanning technology targeted to libraries and other organizations. The product is a compact, fully integrated rollfilm and microfiche viewer/scanner that can also accept aperture cards and opaque materials.

ViewScan digitally captures microfilm images and instantly projects them on a PC Monitor. Digitized and enhanced in a fraction of a second, the high resolution images can then be viewed and printed. The image quality is preserved through the scaling process.

The product’s software makes it possible for a novice user to scan, view, edit or export the images. ViewScan can produce files in formats including jpg, pdf, tiff and more.

“Traditionally, scanning film or fiche required waiting for a pixelated image to process before it could be viewed clearly,” said Kevin D’Arcy, vice president of sales and marketing at MES Hybrid Document Systems, Inc. “However, ViewScan offers the fastest screen refresh rate in the industry and provides real-time image review. It also provides automatic zoom, focus, margining, scaling and image orientation to fit and fill different paper sizes.”

ViewScan’s 2400 mega pixel camera exceeds National Archives (NARA) standards, even for large, complex documents.
