Bell Media Secures Exclusive Digital Program The Confession for Multiplatform Roll-Out

BellBell Media has announced that it will launch The Confession, a heart-pumping 10-part digital series created by and starring Kiefer Sutherland (24), on multiple digital platforms including online, mobile and tablets. The Confession premieres exclusively in Canada at theconfession.ctv.ca on Monday, December 5 with the first three episodes, followed by two new episodes rolling out on subsequent Mondays. The full series will also be available on CTV Mobile on Bell Mobile TV for smartphones and superphones beginning Monday, December 12, and on the CTV iPad App starting Monday, December 19. The Confession is sponsored exclusively by Audi.

“Bell Media Digital is proud to be the exclusive Canadian home of the world’s first bona fide made-for-web hit series,” said Jon Taylor, Senior Director of Content, Bell Media Digital. “This isn’t your typical web show – this is Kiefer Sutherland, John Hurt and a story and production quality you’ve only seen on TV until now. The The ConfessionConfession is a digital exclusive, edge-of-your-seat thriller you won’t see anywhere else – including TV!”

The Confession is an exploration of good and evil featuring a hit man played by Sutherland, and a priest played by two-time Academy-Award® Nominee John Hurt (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). The story begins on Christmas Eve, when the hit man enters a church to confess his sins to the priest.

Through a series of gripping flashbacks, the confessor’s journey is revealed – laying out what has brought him to this moment and leading the audience to the dramatic ending where the man’s chances at redemption hang in the balance. While at first the confessor seems to be an evil, cold-blooded killing machine and the Priest the ultimate arbiter of good, as the series develops, it becomes clear that both characters are much more complicated than either could have ever suspected.

“This is the first thing in my entire career that I have been involved from the inception of the idea to delivery of the product,” said actor and executive producer Keifer Sutherland. “My interest stemmed from the challenge of trying to tell a five minute story over a long period of time, and clearly the internet is the largest network on the planet and for anyone telling stories whether they’re acting, writing or directing, the potential for this landscape is massive”
