New Canadian Film Review Web-Show
What was the last great Canadian film you saw? Asks co-host, and Press+1 Editor-in-Chief, Kindah Mardam Bey at the end of the “Canadian Film Review” web-show premiered last night at 7pm EST. Press+1 created the Canadian Film section in 2010 covering the who, what, where, and when of Canadian Films, this section is a destination for audiences who want to be kept current on Canadian Films.
Press+1 and the Government of Alberta are partnering on the Canadian Film section and the “Canadian Film Review” – a sixteen-episode web-show reviewing over eighteen Canadian films that can be seen online and on mobile devices. Shows are approximately 3-4 minutes long and will air the week a film being reviewed is scheduled for a theatrical release.
“This is a groundbreaking effort,” says Mardam Bey “not just for the advancement of the Canadian film presence on multiple media platforms, but also this marks a turning-point towards connecting Canadian audiences with their English-speaking homegrown films. We are enormously pleased to be working with the Government of Alberta who are setting a precedence as innovators of the Canadian film industry by collaborating on projects that are focused towards connecting Canadian audiences with Canadian content.”
Along with Ontario-based Kindah Mardam Bey, Alberta-based co-host, Trevor Alberts, will be reviewing films from across Canada that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this year and four films that were featured at the Calgary International Film Festival in the Alberta Spirit spotlight.
Press+1 is working with companies, communities, media partners and individuals across Canada who have an interest in spotlighting Canadian films.
The first “Canadian Film Review” web-show aired on November 1st 2011 at 7pm EST on the Press+1 Canadian Film section. You can find full bios of the show hosts, blogs, images and a complete list of films being reviewed on the Press+1 Canadian Film section.
