Eidos-Montreal used some of the latest game development technology from Autodesk, Inc. to develop the critically acclaimed “Deus Ex: Human Revolution” video game. Autodesk Scaleform middleware helped the developer build immersive user interfaces (UIs) — from interactive world objects and the hero’s Augmented Reality bio-engineered enhancement, to basic menus and heads-up displays (HUDs). International family entertainment rights creation and management company DHX Media is pleased to announce that it has licensed publishing rights in the UK for its hit children’s series Rastamouse to Macmillan Children’s Books. The license, which was heavily sought after by other UK children’s publishers, will enable Macmillan to publish a wide range of Rastamouse products – storybooks, sound books, graphic novels, annuals and ebooks amongst others. Legalized gaming has nearly tripled in size since 1995, from $6.4 billion in gaming win to about $15.1 billion (2010) according to the most recent economic impact study released by the Canadian Gaming Association. With total industry revenues of $16 billion, the industry now exceeds the combined revenues generated by magazine and book sales, social establishments, spectator sports, movie theatres and the performing arts. QuickPlay Media, Inc., a provider of managed solutions for the distribution of premium video to IP-connected devices, today announced it has been named to Deloitte’s North America Technology Fast 500 and Canada Technology Fast 50 lists. The awards recognize the fastest-growing companies in North America and Canada, respectively. Both awards are based on a company’s revenue growth over the past five years.
