Winnipeg MakerSpace Grand Opening Event

assentworksWinnipeg’s first and only makerspace, AssentWorks, will open on October 27th, and you’re invited to the party, which will take place from 4:00p.m. until 8:00p.m.. AssentWorks will be a place where inventors, engineers, designers and business people can create practically anything using space-age and modern equipment. It is a public, non-profit organization, aimed at supporting and benefiting Manitoban business today, and in the future.

AssentWorks transforms a formerly vacant floor of a turn-of-the-last-century Exchange District warehouse building into a 21st century prototyping centre, capable of making practically anything. AssentWorks will serve makers from both business and hobby communities; all it takes is a membership in AssentWorks to gain 24×7 access to the new facility.

AssentWorks operates on a subscription basis. If you’re a small, startup company that needs to develop a prototype product to show investors or buyers, but don’t have the funds or ability to use modern equipment, then AssentWorks can provide the solution. AssentWorks includes a variety of space-age manufacturing equipment, ranging from laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC mills, welders, power saws and even a wide variety of hand tools, all of which can be brought to bear on small-scale manufacturing problems.

Large companies can also benefit from participating in AssentWorks if they require occasional access to special manufacturing equipment to, say, replicate a broken part from an older machine.

On October 27th, 2011, AssentWorks will hold its first open house to display the facilities, equipment and procedures. On hand will be the AssentWorks board of directors, Michael Legary, David Bernhardt and Kerry Stevenson, our major sponsors The Eureka Project and Seccuris and also several individuals who will tell their success stories of using AssentWorks and makerspace facilities.

The Grand Opening program will commence at 4pm, October 27th at 125 Adelaide St, 3rd floor. Parkade and street parking is available nearby. We’d really appreciate having you join us to learn more about our project!
