Following thousands of submissions, and nearly 200,000 votes, Ontario’s Cindy Tang, age 17 has been named the winner of the first ever Doodle 4 Google Canada competition for her illustration of an underwater sea telescope. Canadians may be eagerly waiting for a spring thaw but there’s no one going more bananas over frozen ice than Donkey Kong. In just three days, the world’s most recognizable primate will finally learn how many bananas were frozen inside a massive block of ice buried deep in the wilderness. Canadians have until later today, Thursday February 20, to enter the Banana Mania contest at Nintendo of Canada’s Facebook page. Northumberland CFDC, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing financing and strategy for entrepreneurs has issued a call for entrants for its 2014 N100 competition. N100 is a competition for startup companies with the potential to grow, innovate and create jobs in Northumberland, Ontario. There is no need to be currently located in Northumberland to participate, and a $100,000 in investment capital is available. Book publisher Harlequin has added a compelling final chapter to its tremendously popular So You Think You Can Write (SYTYCW) 2013 event by announcing seven winners from two writing contests held simultaneously in its search for new talent. Griflens, the new startup that hopes to spark a playground craze, are the winners of Startup Weekend Maker Edition Toronto. Their team beat out stiff competition from ten other innovative hardware startup ideas to win the contest that empowers entrepreneurs to launch businesses in a single weekend.
