In a bold new move, Premier Digital Publishing, in partnership with Gandolfo-Helin Literary Management, Producer Steve Ecclesine, and novelist Jonathan Ryan have announced the launch of an unprecedented film adaptation director contest. The “3 Gates of the Dead Filmmaker Competition” invites aspiring film directors from across the United States and Canada to enter the contest in one of two ways. A University of Calgary faculty member will speak at the world’s largest face-to-face gathering of elite hackers. DEF CON, the biggest conference of its kind, brings together over 15,000 professional and amateur computer security experts every year to discuss the latest tech vulnerabilities. A Joint Federal-Provincial-Territorial Report report on Cyberbullying and the Non-consensual Distribution of Intimate Images was released earlier today by the Canadian government. The Report is divided into two parts, with the first part of the report addressing the issue of cyberbullying, including information relating to the scope of the problem, the impact of cyberbullying on victims, existing legislative and policy responses and options for Criminal Code reform to address the issue. The second part of the Report addresses the issue of the non-consensual distribution of intimate images and contains information about the scope of the problem, existing Criminal Code responses and options for a new Criminal Code offence. Work on this report began in October 2012, when the Federal/Provincial/Territorial (FPT) Ministers responsible for Justice and Public Safety directed senior officials to identify potential gaps in the Criminal Code on cyberbullying and the non-consensual distribution of intimate images and report back to Deputy Ministers. CTV has announced that it will present the world broadcast premiere and first-ever network run of the hit conspiracy thriller Orphan Black later this summer. The Space original series from Temple Street Productions, produced in partnership with BBC America, will be introduced to new viewers on Friday, Aug. 16 when it begins its first-ever run on a conventional network, leading to a Season 1 finale on CTV in the heat of the fall season in mid-October. The 10-episode, one-hour series will air in primetime Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times and on the CTV Mobile channel on Bell Mobile TV. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has revealed Copperhead as one of the eight assassins featured in Batman: Arkham Origins. The character was unveiled at Comic-Con International in San Diego at a panel for the game, which included WB Games Montréal Creative Director Eric Holmes, Armature Studios Game Director Mark Pacini, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, and actors Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker, the voices of Batman and The Joker, respectively.
