GREE has announced that Knights & Dragons, a mobile free-to-play iOS game developed in collaboration with IUGO Mobile Entertainment Inc. and published by GREE, has surpassed $1M in monthly revenue. The team aims to double that revenue number over the next couple of months with long term goals reaching as high as $5M in monthly revenue by the end of the year. This is the first game to be released by a partner in the GREE Partners Fund, announced late last year.
“Our focus is on creating long lasting, cherished franchises that enjoy strong relationships with the player community,” said Jim Ying, Vice-President of Publishing and Partnerships at GREE International, Inc. “Knights is our first collaboration with IUGO and we have big plans for the game going forward including building new multiplayer features and on-going in-game events for players. We’re just getting started. All of us at GREE are very proud to have built one of the most successful publishing relationships in the mobile market right now with the IUGO team. This initial success for a partner in our Partners Fund is the result of a strong focus on knowledge and resource sharing with our partners as well as listening to the players to deliver a high-quality and fun game. We are thrilled that this commitment to quality is paying off and look forward to additional hits with our publishing partners.”
Using GREE’s proprietary analytics and knowledge base, the team was able to achieve a 75% increase in ARPDAU and a 50% increase in day 30 retention. This kept the game at the top of the RPG charts and resulted in a 300% increase in overall monetization. The production teams at GREE worked closely with IUGO throughout the development process, ensuring the constant exchange of knowledge and expertise. The game is now available around the world.
“I am very pleased with the continued success of Knights & Dragons. It is a great opportunity for us to show how we can create an original IP that is unique, fun to play, and well-liked by our players,” says Hong-Yee Wong, CEO of IUGO Mobile Entertainment. “The publisher/developer relationship is really built on the ability to learn from and share expertise and resources. Knights & Dragons is a great example of what that kind of partnership can bring to the market and to the players.”
The GREE Partners Fund is a program focused on establishing long-term relationships with talented developers in the free-to-play mobile games industry by investing an aggregate of $10 million through equity investments of $1 million or more. Partners are offered a suite of benefits, including access to tools and teams available to GREE’s own internal studios. GREE also plans to support partner titles through a variety of marketing efforts, monetization consulting, post-launch operations, and growth initiatives.
The fund is currently considering applicants from North and South America. Developers can find additional information or submit an application online.
