Government of Canada Grants Funding to Quebec Film and Television Council

Government of CanadaThe Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, has announced that the Québec Film and Television Council (QFTC) has been granted financial assistance to promote Quebec on foreign markets as a world-class hub of cinematographic and television production.

“With this concrete support to the Québec Film and Television Council, the Government of Canada is giving new impetus to economic growth and job creation,” says Minister Lebel.qftc

Through its mission, the QFTC helps the province’s film and television industry better promote its high degree of technological expertise and the quality and skill of its labour force. Foreign productions represent a major source of revenue for Quebec enterprises operating in the sector. The QFTC’s two-year promotional campaign is expected to attract a significant number of foreign productions to the province, generating an estimated $400 million in economic spinoffs. This $516,750 non-repayable contribution has been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Business and Regional Growth program.
