Bell Media‘s SPACE announced today from the Banff World Media Festival that it has ordered a new original scripted series from acclaimed independent producer Temple Street Productions. Orphan Black follows outsider, orphan and street-wise chameleon Sarah, who has a murky past and tenuous future after she witnesses a woman’s suicide and assumes the identity of the dead stranger – who happens to look just like her. Expecting to solve all her problems by cleaning out the dead woman’s savings, Sarah is instead thrust headlong into a kaleidoscopic mystery. The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) has launched Fox Trial Finder in the United Kingdom (UK), Ireland and Canada. This first-of-its-kind online platform anonymously connects volunteers with and without Parkinson’s disease to clinical trials in critical need of participants. A new poll of 400 Canadian business leaders by Queen’s School of Business reveals decidedly mixed feelings about social media.  While four in ten (39 per cent) bosses say social media is something they need to use—whether they want to or not —close to an equal number (35 per cent) say they use it heavily because it’s a good opportunity for the business, with the remaining 24 per cent saying it doesn’t add any value. Visa Canada is launching a dynamic educational video game called Money Metropolis that teaches youth the basics of setting financial goals, earning, saving, and prudent spending. The game, which Visa will officially launch in both French and English during the Conference of Montreal for the International Economic Forum of the Americas, targets youth aged 7-12 and is a creative way to encourage kids to think about finances.
