This talk provides an overview of virtual worlds and augmented reality — technological innovations that can either immerse users into virtual environments where they can interact with digital objects or provide users of real-world environments and objects with digitally generated layers of content and context. Modern examples of trends in virtual worlds and augmented reality will be discussed in terms of their impact and application to the field of marketing. Future directions in this area will also be explored.

The 8th Annual Business Career Expo will be held on Friday March 23, 2012. B.C.’s largest annual business-only career fair will include representatives from 100 companies and 1,000+ students and recent alumni from host schools the Beedie School of Business at SFU, the Sauder School of Business at UBC and the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at UVIC. This year’s event will be held at the beautiful downtown Westin Bayshore Hotel Vancouver.

This one day event gives students an excellent opportunity to learn about the types of candidates each organization is seeking, in terms of education, skill set and culture fit. In addition, students are able to highlight the unique assets that they could bring to an organization.

For employers, this is a great opportunity to profile employment opportunities, develop your brand among students and focus your recruitment efforts. Founded in 2006, our Vancouver Women in Film Festival is one of only three film festivals in Canada featuring women filmmakers: the other two are Toronto’s Female Eye Film Festival, and the St John’s International Women’s Film Festival. As such, we bring filmmakers and audiences together, offering opportunities for women filmmakers in Western Canada that would not exist without us.

All films screened at VWIFF must be created by women in at least three of the key creative roles (one woman may serve in more than one role): Writer, Producer, Director, D.O.P., Lead Actor, Lead Animator / Editor, or Lead Composer. We encourage submissions featuring strong female characters and stories.

In addition to screening approximately 50 Canadian and International short and feature films (narratives, documentaries, and animation), VWIFF 2012 will include:
