The Canadian Cinema Editors 2012 Awards by Deluxe is celebrating its second year with a sold out event on May 17, 2012 at the Capitol Event Theatre in Toronto. With the editor nominees representing the best in Canadian film and television, the C.C.E. will present awards with the help of actors from some of the work represented. Bomb Girls John Ralston, Karen Waddell and Sebastian Pigott, Rookie Blue’s Gregory Smith and Degrassi’s Jordan Todsey and Munro Chambers will join host Mark Sanders, Canada AM’s film critic Richard Crouse and Canadian Society of Cinematographer’s Susan Saranchuk as presenters. Best Buy is teaming up with nine stores in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto to help collect and recycle the several pounds of electronic waste that are accumulated in Canadian homes each year. Local residents are encouraged to drop off their used or unwanted personal electronics for free and safe recycling at one of the participating stores for Best Buy’s Tech it Away event. Everyone who drops off electronics to be recycled at any of the participating store locations will be entered for a chance to win a $1,000 Best Buy gift card. Canada’s .CA turns 25 years old today. It was on this day in 1987 that the .CA top-level domain was officially delegated by Jon Postel, operator of Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), to John Demco at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Demco and a group of volunteers ran the registry for 13 years. Since 2000, the registry for .CA domain names has been run by the Ottawa-based Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA).
