Creative BC will provide BC-based film or television entertainment companies with an envelope of money to support the development of two or more eligible film, television or digital media projects in the form of a non-recoupable development advance of up to $50,000. The fund is intended to leverage investment from the private sector, develop a presence in the international marketplace, and encourage development, production and marketing strategies which address new opportunities in digital media and online.

The 2013-2014 application deadline for the Slate 2.0 Development Fund is November 29, 2013. Please see the Fund guidelines for complete information. They are available as a downloadable PDF from the Creative BC site.

Also announced today are two additional Passport To Market opportunities:

Film Bazaar at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) – November 20 – 24, 2013 in Goa, India

• Application deadline to Creative BC: October 16, 2013

The Forum at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) – November 25 – 27, 203 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

• Application deadline to Creative BC: October 21, 2013

Passport to Markets provides financial support to BC film and television companies so that they can attend international markets, and co-production conferences/ exchanges. This fund helps offset travel, accommodation, and registration expenses. Applicable market/festival sites are designated by Creative BC and individual calls for applications are released for each site.

Applications are considered from BC resident producers (who have professional experience in the film and television industry) who have been pre-selected to attend a market/festival site. Applications are also considered from BC resident sales agents or distributors on a case-by-case basis.

The Passport to Market deadline is very close for the American Film Market – AFM, taking place this November 6 -13 in Santa Monica, California. The application deadline to Creative BC is October 7, 2013.

Also available for application is nexMEDIA Toronto, taking place this December 3rd in Toronto. The application deadline is October 25, 2013.

Please Note: Recipients of a Slate Development Fund or Passport to Markets envelope are not eligible to receive additional funding through Passport to Markets.
