Canada Post Joins With Magento To Drive eCommerce Growth In Canada

Canada PostCanada Post has announced an agreement with Magento, a California-based e-commerce retail platform provider, to integrate services and create a superior, more convenient online shopping experience from shipping and delivery to returns. Magento merchants will now have access to Canada Post’s unparalleled retail network and customer-centric shipping and delivery features. The agreement between Magento, a division of X.commerce, an eBay Inc. company, and Canada Post sets the stage for greater convenience and choice for Canadian online shoppers. By integrating into Magento’s e-commerce platform, Canada Post will help provide a satisfying shopping experience through a range of shipping, delivery, tracking and returns options well after the online transaction is made.

“Canada Post is taking another step to push e-commerce forward in Canada,” says René Desmarais, Senior Vice-President, Parcels at Canada Post. “By integrating with leading retail platform providers, we are enabling retailers to offer the most convenient end-to-end online shopping experience in a seamless manner.”

Key features of the Magento integration include:

  • The ability to set accurate customer expectations with precise expected delivery dates;
  • The most convenient delivery options, including delivery to the Canadian post office of choice;
  • Tracking orders directly from the merchant’s online store;
  • Self-service return labels from the online store to simplify the return process; and
  • Automated order fulfillment by printing shipping labels directly within Magento.

Magento is one of the fastest-growing global e-commerce solutions and already serves more than 150,000 merchants worldwide. Integration with Canada Post enables Magento’s retailers to set up additional shipping, delivery and return options for their Canadian customers within minutes, at a fraction of the cost.

“E-commerce is booming in Canada,” said Ryan Thompson, Director of Partnerships for X.commerce and Magento. “Our relationship with Canada Post can better enhance the Canadian consumer’s online shopping experience with Magento functionality and convenient, flexible and efficient delivery options from Canada Post.”
