Space Trader Drifter Expands To Desktops Thanks to Kickstarter Supporters
Celsius Game Studios, creator of critically-acclaimed iOS arcade space shooter Red Nova, is excited to announce that its upcoming space trading game Drifter, originally slated for an iOS-only release, will now be coming to the desktop as well thanks to crowd-funding site Kickstarter.
Having surpassed its $50,000 fundraising goal, Celsius will now be able to hire a 3D artist to assist with asset creation. This will greatly improve the game’s visuals as well as give founder and sole developer Colin Walsh more time to focus on game development and porting Drifter to PC and Mac.
With a little less than a week left until the campaign’s deadline, Celsius hopes to continue to collect funds to go towards its stretch goals of bringing artist and UI designer Steve Courtney on board to create a professional UI as well as making Linux a launch platform along with PC and Mac.

Featuring a procedurally-generated galaxy over 100,000 lightyears across consisting of over 10,000 star systems and a soundtrack by renowned video game composer Danny Baranowsky, Drifter is an open-world sandbox space trading game in the vein of games such as Frontier, Privateer and Escape Velocity Nova. Live the simple life of a merchant, become a bounty hunter, take on work for hire, become a fearsome pirate, or simply explore the galaxy around you, the choice is yours.
