BC Gesture Library for Unity3D: Streamlining Touchscreen and Mouse-Based Game Development

Black Cherry DigitalBlackCherry Digital Media Inc. has announced the release of BC Gesture Library in the Unity Asset Store for $60.00 USD. An easy-to-use library of gesture scripts designed for the Unity3D community by a team of experienced Unity3D developers, BC Gesture Library comes with a rich graphical user interface allowing developers to explore the extensive collection of gestures and options for touch, drag, slice, swipe and many more. The user-friendly interface lets developers first test the gesture they want to use before applying it to a game object.

BC Gesture Library is raising the standard for increasing the efficiency of mouse- and gesture-based games and applications development. The Library is a set of C# classes that lets Unity3D users easily access and apply gesture scripts to game objects in touch- and mouse-based applications. George Stretton, a lead programmer at BlackCherry and key developer of the Gesture Library, explains that “using the library to apply gesture code to game objects has become Black Cherry Gesture Libraryso easy. Just drag whatever gesture code you want from the Unity project window, drop it onto a game object and, just like that, it’s got gesture ability.”

BlackCherry has been using Unity technologies to make games since the release of Unity 1.2. Over a year ago, the BlackCherry development team began storing and categorizing all the gesture scripts they have written for games and apps.

“We created this library because, well, it just made sense. Our team of programmers needed to be able to access these scripts and not have to worry about rewriting them over and over again,” said BlackCherry CEO John Mark Seck. “We ended up with this amazing archive of code that has saved our team a huge amount of time when completing projects. It has worked so well that we thought, ‘Hey, other Unity developers will definitely find this useful too!’”
