MobileMonday Toronto Returns March 5th for the Seventh Annual VC Panel Pitch
On Monday March 5th, MobileMonday Toronto will return for its seventh annual venture capital panel pitch event. This has become a must attend annual event, drawing hundreds of prospective mobile entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas to some of Canada’s leading venture capital companies. The March 5th meeting will take place at the MaRS Discovery District, located at 101 College Street (S.E. corner College and University).
Five companies from the greater Toronto area will be given the opportunity to present to the VC panel on the merits of their business or idea, and why they should receive funding. The event will start with a venture capital panel discussion followed by entrepreneurs pitching their business.
“The quality of the submissions has improved year over year and we have seen some pretty innovative companies present their ideas at our events. We expect more of the same this year,” said Alexander S. Bosika and Jim Brown, co-founders of MobileMonday Toronto.
Previous venture capital participation has included Ventures West, BCE Capital, Brightspark, Verdexus Capital, JL Albright – BlackBerry Fund, and RBC Capital – BlackBerry Fund. This free event is expected to reach full audience capacity. All attendees are encouraged to register early.
This year will see the participation of series sponsor Miller Thomson LLP take a more prominent role. As a part of the selection process, the five companies will have one on one coaching sessions prior to their pitch to the panel. “It’s critical for entrepreneurs to understand how to position themselves to be investment ready for venture capital firms. Having a coherent corporate and intellectual property strategy not only facilitates your go-to-market strategy, but also demonstrates your ability to execute on it. Miller Thomson is thrilled to provide guidance to the companies selected as part of this event” says Bob Stewart, Partner at Miller Thomson. Miller Thomson LLP is one of Canada’s leading business law firms, leveraging its national perspective and depth of expertise to bring strong and effective value to the early stage technology sector.
