Original Stand-Up Comedy Series Returns Returns To HBO Canada
Funny, fearless comedy is returning to HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of Astral’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) this February, with Season 2 of Funny as Hell, a no-holds-barred original stand-up comedy series from The Movie Network and Movie Central, and produced by Just For Laughs Television.
The eight-part, half-hour, Gemini-award winning series was taped in front of a live audience at the 2011 Montreal Just For Laughs Festival and features bold, uncensored comedy from some of today’s fastest rising stars. Funny as Hell Season 2 premieres Friday, February 24 at 9 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada.
Hosted by homegrown comic Jon Dore, Funny as Hell brings audiences more of the edgy, politically-incorrect comedy, music and digital shorts that made them howl in Season 1. In its sophomore season, Funny as Hell features an impressive line-up of performances by:
- Jeffrey Ross (The Comedy Central Roasts)
- Hannibal Buress (Writer for 30 Rock)
- Kristen Schaal (The Daily Show, Flight of the Concords)
- Rhys Darby (Flight of the Concords)
- John Mulaney (Saturday Night Live)
- David O’Doherty (multiple award winner at Edinborough Fringe Festival)
- Jay Oakerson (Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn)
- Bill Burr (Dave Chapelle Show)
- Eugene Mirman (Flight of the Concords, Bob’s Burgers)
- Amy Schumer (The Roast of Charlie Sheen)
- Greg Davies (The Inbetweeners)
- Nick Thune (appearances on Conan, Fallon and Leno)
- Tom Gleeson (Good News Week)
