RTDNA Canada Announces 50th Anniversary Conference Theme

rtdna canadaRTDNA Canada is pleased announce the theme for the 2012 National Conference in Toronto. “RTDNA@50 – The Future of Electronic Journalism” looks back on our rich history and looks forward to how our business continues to evolve. “With this theme in mind, RTDNA National planning committee is designing must-attend super sessions that will appeal to News Directors, producers, reporters, technical staff and journalism students,” said Andy LeBlanc, President RTDNA Canada.

An icon in the television business, Lloyd Robertson, will kick off our 50th anniversary celebrations with a special opening Super Session on Thursday, June 21, 2012.  We are also pleased to confirm Canada’s main network anchors, will participate in our special conference. “We will have many more exciting announcements about our conference planning in the weeks to come so stay tuned”, said Peter Angione, RTDNA Canada Conference Chair.

Now is the time to start gathering material to enter in the RTDNA National Awards to be held in Toronto on June 23, 2012. The deadline to enter your station material is January 31, 2012. “We were thrilled with the record number of entries we had last year now that we have switched to on line submissions and we want to break the record again this year”, said Michael Fulmes, RTDNA Canada Awards Chair.

This is an extraordinary time in the evolution of the news and information age, and digital technology presents many opportunities and challenges for our profession. Our regional and national professional development seminars offer relevant and exciting perspectives and take home value from industry experts while our awards program recognizes the best in electronic journalism across Canada.

Our National Conference – and 50th Anniversary celebration – is in Toronto, June 21-23, 2012.

Regional conferences are being held in Vancouver, Winnipeg and Dartmouth on April 14th, 2012.
