Canadian Youth Business Foundation Launches Global Entrepreneurship Week Canada 2011
The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) has officially marked the beginning of Global Entrepreneurship Week Canada 2011 – seven days committed to celebrating entrepreneurs and inspiring young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity from coast to coast to coast.
As official hosts of GEW Canada 2011, CYBF will kick off GEW at the Corporate and Community Social Responsibility Conference in Ottawa today and continue throughout the week with events, awards and promotions taking place across the country. Events will be organized by CYBF and its partners, including community partners, strategic partners and fellow members of Canada’s entrepreneur ecosystem such as ACE, Impact Entrepreneur Group, SIFE and The Canadian Federation of Independent Business. The week will wrap with a series of Start-Up Weekend events happening across the country, including the official closing event, Start-Up Weekend Toronto, a community-building start-up event which begins on Friday November 18.
“This is a particularly important Global Entrepreneurship Week as it falls at the end of year officially declared by the Canadian federal government as ‘The Year of the Entrepreneur’,” explains Vivian Prokop, chief executive officer of the Canadian Youth Business Foundation. “GEW is about convening and collaborating with likeminded organizations to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Canada and abroad. Together, we are working to cultivate the next generation of entrepreneurs who will create and sustain Canada’s long term economic prosperity.”
Global Entrepreneurship Week Canada 2011 is taking place thanks to the generous support of the following partners: National Post, ACE, The Government of Alberta, Mount Royal University, Review Room and Studentawards.com.
