Just a week into their Kickstarter campaign for The Long Dark, and Hinterland Games has already amassed the support of 2,500 backers who have generously pledged more than $70,000 towards development of the simulation survivalist project. The developers are very pleased to announced that one of our personal favourite Canadian actors will be joining Mark Meer (who is also a personal favourite) on the cast of The Long Dark. This morning we were very pleased to discover that Elias Toufexis will be lending his talent to one of the characters, even though Hinterland is not yet revealing which character.
“I love games with compelling stories that strive to set themselves apart, and The Long Dark is definitely that. The veteran team at Hinterland had me convinced right away that I needed to be part of this game,” said Toufexis, who is is no stranger to the video game world.
The Montreal actor is best known for his role as Adam Jensen, the protagonist in the award-winning Deux Ex: Human Revolution from Eidos Montreal. He can also be seen (heard) in several other games, including Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed series, Shaun White Skateboarding, and I Am Alive. Elias’ television includes recurring roles on ABC’s Zero Hour (which was prematurely canceled by that network, much to our chagrin, but maybe we will see it return), Syfy’s Alphas, CTV’s The Listener and ABC/Global’s Rookie Blue. He also did an awesome job of hosting the 2013 Canadian Videogame Awards in Vancouver earlier this year. Visit Elias’ IMDB page to see his full list of projects.
At press time, The Long Dark had raised $ 71, 200.00 of its $ 200, 000.00, with 22 days remaining in the KickStarter campaign.
