DHX Media Signs Digital, Linear TV And Home Entertainment Content Licenses In Canada

dhx mediaDHX Media Ltd. has announcd licenses in Canada to BlackBerry®, the CBC and Berkshire Axis Media Distribution. DHX Media has signed a deal with mobile content platform provider BlackBerry® for 1000 episodes of programming which will be available across the UK, US and Canada. The deal includes titles such as Inspector Gadget, perennial favourite Sonic the Hedgehog and several its Movie Toons titles.

Berkshire Axis Media Distribution (BAM) in Canada has also signed a six-year home entertainment deal for a range of titles including Mona the Vampire and Are you Afraid of the Dark? BAM will be releasing titles in both French and English.

Canadian broadcaster CBC has renewed seasons 1, 2 and 3 of the preschool stop-motion comedy animation, POKO.  POKO has aired on Kids CBC for nine years and can be seen weekdays at 10:00am.

Josh Scherba, SVP of Distribution at DHX Media, says: “Canada remains a key territory for DHX and it’s great that long-term partners such as the CBC continue to support our brands.  We are also adapting to the changing trends in audience consumption securing deals with non-traditional outlets like BlackBerry® along with traditional home entertainment partners like BAM.”
