QuickPlay Media Shares Lessons Learned On Over The Top TV

quickplay mediaQuickPlay Media, a provider of managed solutions for the distribution of premium video to IP-connected devices, has announced that CEO Wayne Purboo will present a session detailing how mobile and TV service providers can compete with Over-The-Top (OTT) offerings at the third annual Over-The-Top TV Conference (OTTCON) being held March 20-21, 2012 in Santa Clara.Presentation Summary: Large TV Service providers and telcos are not waiting on the sidelines until consumers adopt multiscreen VOD. They are devoting significant resources to deliver their own “OTT-like” services as a strategic move to compete against the OTT delivery model head-on. With control of the network on which content is delivered, MSOs can offer a higher quality and more consistent experience than other OTT services. These offerings provide value for customers, reduce churn and create an opportunity to attract new subscribers outside a service provider’s current geographic markets when the appropriate content rights are negotiated.

Through lessons-learned from deployments with the world’s largest communications and media companies, attendees of this presentation will hear how smaller telcos and cable service providers can protect and grow their market share while navigating the technological and financial risks of running an excellent multiscreen VOD service. They’ll also learn how larger providers can ensure a high quality service and experience while maintaining costs and efficiencies.
