Happy Tenth Anniversary Klipfolio

klipfolioKlipfolio Inc is celebrating 10 years in business and is dedicating February to commemorating this achievement. Based in Ottawa, Canada, Klipfolio began in 2001 based on the idea of reconciling disparate data sources and displaying them on a consolidated view called a dashboard. Over the past 10 years, Klipfolio has become a leading desktop KPI dashboard and mobile BI dashboard vendor.

“We are deeply appreciative of the support we have received over the last 10 years, from our customers and the business intelligence community,” says Allan Wille, CEO and President of Klipfolio. “Thank you for making the past 10 years such a success.”

Originally known as Serence Inc., the company was founded in 2001 and initially focused on the consumer market. The founding trio – Allan Wille, Peter Matthews, and James Scott – were excited by the emergence of XML, RSS, new aggregators, and widgets in the early 2000s and came up with a solution to simplify how users managed and monitored information from multiple, disparate sources. Their idea was to use a reporting device called a Klip to display a tidbit of data automatically retrieved from a single data source. Users could then organize multiple, unique Klips on a single view called a dashboard. In 2008, when Serence officially changed its name to Klipfolio, the company had successfully transitioned into the operational business intelligence space (OBI) space. Klipfolio now has clients in the Americas, Europe, and the Asian-Pacific.

To help celebrate their success, Klipfolio is sharing the visual history of Klipfolio, a collection of images that shows the evolution of the Klip from 2001 to present. In addition to this, Klipfolio is also releasing the history of Klipfolio, an intimate look at how the company went from small start-up to leading dashboard vendor. Last but not least, Allan Wille’s 10 years, 10 lessons is a candid blog post where he shares insights, observations, and life lessons captured over the past 10 years.
