HootSuite continues to build momentum as a platform for partners, developers, and users by extending functionality and integration opportunities with the release of their Engagement API, and another wave of apps to join their ever-expanding App Directory. Today, users gain access to a wave of new apps that join the App Directory including Digg, Trendspottr, and InboxQ. These apps are available immediately to HootSuite Basic, Pro, and Enterprise account holders worldwide.
- Digg – With the Digg app for HootSuite, HootSuite users can view current Top News stories, search stories, Digg stories, discover and share content from the web using the dashboard, and more.
- Trendspottr – The TrendSpottr app for HootSuite allows users to search for trending content by topic, keyword or phrase, select from a list of popular searches, share trending stories, videos and more via the social networks they’ve added to the HootSuite dashboard.
- InboxQ – With the InboxQ app for HootSuite, users can find questions on Twitter based on keyword and phrase searches, fine tune search results, and engage directly with those asking questions, all from within the HootSuite dashboard.

HootSuite launched the App Directory in late 2011, providing the opportunity for third-party developers to build extensions into the platform. Applications to date include Constant Contact, Digg, Flickr, Get Satisfaction, InboxQ, Trendspottr, Tumblr, and YouTube. Each app release further enhances HootSuite’s SaaS model by expanding the ecosystem of partner integrations. With this release, users have the opportunity to grow their business and build more relationships with new audiences alongside existing social network profiles including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ Pages, and more. This increasingly successful platform attracts the attention of developers because of its availability to expand the network ecosystem, while optimizing the distinction between social networks and marketing actions.
By opening up the Engagement API, HootSuite also exposes the core social network management, message publishing and scheduling functionality into third party platforms and applications, expanding these capabilities to the developer and partner community. The API is already load tested and proven since HootSuite is the first and major user of the API for the mobile applications across the various mobile platforms. In addition to this latest App Directory and Engagement API release, HootSuite also announces an external integration of the dashboard with the click .to application offering. With the click .to integration, users will be able to quickly and easily share news, links, and text with one simple click, from click .to to the multiple social media profiles added to their HootSuite account.
