Future Shop Opens Liquidation Centre In Quebec

Future ShopFuture Shop is launching a new retail concept in Quebec: a store dedicated to open-box and clearance-priced consumer electronics and appliances. This is the first of its kind offered by a national consumer electronics retailer.  The grand opening of Future Shop’s Liquidation Centre, located at 1,000 Avenue Auguste, Greenfield Park, takes place on December 29, 2011.

“The Future Shop Liquidation Centre is an important milestone for our company as we diversify and reach a new, growing consumer base,” said Thierry Lopez, Quebec Marketing Manager, Future Shop. “We have long been interested in opening a retail outlet dedicated to product liquidation and now is the perfect time. The Liquidation Centre creates a shopping destination catering exclusively to value-conscious consumers.”

Located at the intersection of Boulevard Taschereau and Avenue Auguste in the Greenfield Park area of Longueuil, the 37,000 sq. ft. centre allows Future Shop to reach a value-seeking consumer target. Future Shop Liquidation will be dedicated largely to more than 3,500 open-box and end-of-line consumer electronics and major appliances, including: over 750 HDTVs, 1,100 desktop and laptop computers, 700 digital cameras, and camcorders, all sold at or below cost.

Merchandise is sourced from the Future Shop locations in the greater Montreal region and sold in either new or like-new condition. Prior to sale, every item undergoes rigorously evaluation and testing to ensure quality. Additionally, free local delivery and flexible financing options will be offered to customers.

The Centre’s environment offers a warehouse-style format with a special front-of-store section dedicated to weekly new arrivals. Also, in-store Internet terminals will allow customers to research and compare merchandise offered at the Liquidation Centre, as well as give them the opportunity to reassure themselves they will not find better deals.

Future Shop’s investment in the Longueuil community will create approximately 70 jobs and help reinforce the area’s popularity as a retail destination.

“Our Liquidation Centre allows consumers to buy with confidence – the electronics and appliances are offered at prices unheard of,” said Lopez. “Quebec is fortunate to be the first market to host this retail concept, and we anticipate that it will quickly become a popular shopping destination.”

Future Shop Liquidation will officially open on Thursday, December 29, 2011 with a grand opening kick-off starting at 9:00 a.m. EST with door crasher deals and exciting offers.
