Ubisoft Announces Details for Assassin’s Creed 2 DLC and Splinter Cell Conviction LCE

UbisoftMontrealUbisoft has just announced further details on the earlier announced upcoming downloadable content for Assassin’s Creed 2. Each DLC expansion requires ownership of an Assassin’s Creed 2 disc copy for either the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360 as well as 1.0 GB of available memory for each chapter.

The Battle of Forli expands the Assassin’s Creed II Sequence 12 experience by delivering a missing piece of the storyline. Join Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza to defend Forli from the Orsi Brothers. Accomplish a daring rescue and prevent the Piece of Eden from falling into the hands of the Templars. Uncover new depths to the historical conspiracy by gaining access to six challenging new memories including the opportunity to pilot Leonardo’s flying machine across Romagna. The Battle of Forli will be available towards the end of January 2010.

Assassin’s Creed II Sequence 13: Bonfire of the Vanities continues to expand the addictive AC2 universe. Work with Machiavelli to free the city of Florence from the grip of the mad monk Savonarola by targeting influential citizens under his control. Battle, sneak and free-run your way through more than ten challenging new memories. Discover a new district of Florence, and utilize Ezio’s brand new move: the spring-jump.

Splinter Cell ConvictionUbisoft® has also announced (via Ubisoft UK) a few details about the Limited Collector’s Edition of E3® 2009 Xbox 360 most awarded game, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction™.

The Splinter Cell Conviction team also invites everyone to connect to the Xbox LIVE® on the 16th of December at 9:00:00 AM PST (12 noon EST) for the worldwide premiere of the multi-player modes.

The announcement from Ubi UK states that the Limited Collector’s Edition will be available on February 26th in all European, Middle Eastern, Asian and Pacific territories, for both the Xbox 360™ and the Windows® PC games and will include:

– An exclusive Sam Fisher statue
– Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction game in unique SteelBook™ case
– Infiltration Mode : Eliminate all hostiles in the mission area without being detected
– A special playable skin: Shadow Armor
– Early access to 3 weapons: SC300, SR2 and MP5
– The official Splinter Cell Conviction Soundtrack (more than 17 tracks)

I did email Ubisoft UK to find out a more relevant, Canadian projected release date and LCE content confirmation two days ago, but as of this posting, I have yet to receive any reply. As many of us are aware, the CE packages for Assassin’s Creed 2 differed between regions, so I wanted to make sure that the above list of goodies also applied to Canadian versions of the Convictions LCE. The Canadian GameStop web site does not yet offer the LCE for pre-order, but GameStop USA, lists the LCE as being available for pre-order for $79.99usd, shipping on February 23rd 2010.

LCE Details as listed on GameStop USA are as follows (with the obligatory statement that the contents may change prior to release). Those who place pre-orders with GameStop (and I presume EB Games), will receive a code for an exclusive in-game semi-automatic shotgun. Note that some of the items listed above for the foreign LCE are not listed below for the apparent North American LCE, and vice versa.

In Splinter Cell Conviction, Sam Fisher returns as a fugitive and enemy of the state. Now Sam is being ruthlessly hunted by the very government he served, and the friends and colleagues he once knew may have masterminded the entire plot. Working outside Third Echelon puts Sam in the uncomfortable position of having to obtain vital resources via different means (aka the underground black market) as he learns to use the environment around him to his advantage.

Where light and shadows were key to gameplay in the original Splinter Cell, stealth action and improvisation help drive Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction, making it an adrenaline rush of blood-pumping chase sequences, close combat, crowd interaction with real-world dynamics and intense gun battles.
