IDNR-TV Kicks Off The 4th Mining Film Festival In Fall 2013

mini-orby [1]IDNR-TV [2], the only television channel in Canada specializing in natural resources, is pleased to announce today that the fourth edition of the Mining Film Festival will be held in fall 2013. The theme of the festival revolves around the lives of ordinary people who live alongside the mining industry and their close relationships with mining communities and with the industry itself. IDNR-TV’s management team said it will announce the event schedule in August.

The festival’s 4th edition is quite a feat because of increased antagonism that has recently led to public debate around the issue of mining licenses in Quebec and the reasons for developing the industry-an industry that brings in an annual $7.4 billion to the Quebec economy, or 2.4% of the gross domestic product (GDP).

Now that the Mining Film Festival has doggedly survived its first three years, the IDNR-TV team says that the festival is here to stay. Its first two editions, held in 2010 and 2011, were hosted at the Cinéma du Parc in Montreal and at Sept-Iles in Côte-Nord. The Mining Film Festival is becoming a tradition not only for those in the mining industry, but also high school and college students and workers in the community and environmental sectors. IDNR-TV believes that the public’s growing concern about the natural resources industry is a testament to the community’s interest in developing a sector that is so essential to the Quebec economy.
