ID Launches Smartphone Application Development Division For Film Sector

ID Digital MediaID Digital Media Inc. has announced the launch of its smartphone application development arm, servicing the interactive media needs of the film industry.  Working with its sister company ID Communications, an established international distribution outfit for independent film, ID Digital will produce Smartphone apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices, based on content from film properties.
“Increasingly the filmed media landscape is becoming multi-screen. The TV market and the Smartphone/tablet markets are intersecting.  Since our sister company ID Communications represents a range of producers from around the world, we have decided to harness this bountiful offering of creativity and make interactive applications which-spin off from the narrative, or augment the content in some way for these other devices.” Says Dan Shannon, founder of ID Digital.

“The growth of the Smartphone market has pushed past the 100 million users mark in North America and more than 25 Billion Apps have been downloaded from the iTunes store as of February 2012.  Mobile marketing is transforming location-based marketing, impacting how shopping is being done in response to local in-app coupons. A detailed article on a study demonstrating this can be found on the ID Digital site. Applying this type of intuitive real-time logic and response to viewers of interactive media in the home, across TV/mobile/tablet applications opens a new sphere of creative possibilities for content creators. Some of our upcoming apps, will do just that.” says Mr Shannon.

ID Digital Media is currently producing 3 mobile applications in association with documentaries currently in production and/or post-production for Canadian television on the themes of Type 1 diabetes, the reconstruction of Haiti, and English/French relations in Canada.
